our cure

According to the TMJ Association, “Temporomandibular Joint and Muscle Disorders (TMJDs)…” are a “…set of conditions that can cause pain in the area of the jaw joint and associated muscles and/or problems using the jaw. Both or just one of the TM joints may be affected. TMJDs can affect a person’s ability to speak, eat, chew, swallow, make facial expressions, and even breathe.”

Signs and symptoms of a TMJ disorder may include:
  • Migraines that are more intense upon waking
  • Sore jaw muscles
  • Ear pain, ringing in the ears or even hearing loss
  • Facial pain or muscle spasms
  • Jaw popping/clicking
  • Locking of the jaw
  • Difficulty in opening the mouth fully
  • Difficulty chewing
  • Discomfort while talking or chewing
  • Frequent neck or shoulder aches
The Spacesleeper is a new, innovative, multipurpose and multi functional pillow that solves problems in multiple industries. But the most effective and outstanding results we have seen are those involving TMJ disorders. If you are a TMJ Disorder sufferer, you know that there are many products out there that claim to “cure” or at least treat your condition. These claims are seldom backed up by hard evidence. Read what doctors and patients have to say about their experiences with the Spacesleeper Pillow: “When I first saw the Spacesleeper pillow, I knew that it would be a great product for my patients. Over the years I’ve been working with patients to get them to change their sleeping habits. Sleeping with pressure on the lower jaw can have numerous bad effects. It makes the bite asymmetric, puts pressure on the jaw joint and helps cause asymmetric grinding and clenching. The Spacesleeper can help temporomandibular problems by keeping patients off their jaw at night. I have been able to help numerous “TMJ” patients including myself when jaw joint and muscle pain flares up. The Spacesleeper, when used properly, can prevent patients from sleeping on their lower jaw. This is important and can alleviate acute pain relatively quickly. I also love to use the Spacesleeper for patients who undergo jaw and facial surgery. This helps everything to heal symmetrically by not putting pressure on the jaw or unequal pressure on the face. Lastly, I have found my orthodontic treatments are a lot more consistent and faster treatment when the patient doesn’t sleep on their jaw. So, routinely, this is a “go to” device.”
Thomas R. Pitts, D.D.S., M.S.D. “Since I came upon the “Spacesleeper” pillow, I’ve given one to each of my TMJ dysfunction patients. Everyone of them has experienced a significant reduction, if not a total elimination of myo-fascial pain. I’m employing splint therapy much less often and have drastically reduced the administration of prescription drugs to patients with this disorder.”

“I have seen remarkable results with my patients using the space sleeper. Patients suffering from sleepless night due to neck and jaw pain have reported significant improvement in the amount and quality of their sleep. I’d recommend this device to anyone with chronic neck, jaw pain, or headaches that seem, at their worst, in the morning.”
Bryan C. Hansen, M.S., D. C.
Reno, NV
“Having been a long time TMJ sufferer, I would wake up exhausted and with severe headaches. I actually felt like I had been punched in the face. I’ve been wearing the “Spacesleeper” pillow for four weeks, and it has changed my life. The headaches are gone and I have no pain in my face. I’m sleeping normally for the first time in years, and I feel rested and full of energy for my day.”

Post Operative Discomfort
After several years of engineering, research and observation, the Spacesleeper Pillow has become a revolutionary adjunct to medical and dental regimens and is already being widely used by doctors to assist their patients in many ways. Because their patients can sleep on the side or back when wearing the pillow, it has been effective in reducing postoperative discomfort in the following ways:
  1. Facial Plastic Surgery
  2. Lasik Surgery
  3. TMJ Surgery
  4. Maxillo-Facial Surgery
  5. Facial Trauma Surgery

The design of the Spacesleeper Pillow also lends itself nicely for treatment of hospital patients. Since the critically designed outer case can be cleaned, infection and cross-contamination is greatly reduced.

In addition, this amazing pillow reduces post-surgical relapse in plastic and reconstructive facial surgical patients. Preventing these patients from sleeping on their faces only helps during post-operative recovery. Other Medical Benefits
In addition we have observed startling impact on:
  1. Sleep Apnea
  2. Loud Snoring
  3. Facial wrinkling from oxygen tubes
  4. Sleep wrinkles
  5. Head and neck support
These observations are not solely the result of our company’s research. Doctors Thomas Pitts of Nevada and Louis Anderson of Texas are active supports of this product.

The concept of creating a space between the face and any sleeping surface is the secret. Several prototypes were researched before the ideal structure was attained. We are continually seeking ways to improve the Spacesleeper Pillow. The feedback we receive from doctors, their patients and members of our development team indicate there may be further applications.
